Stop & Shop launches Pickup Service at Glendale store

Stop & Shop at 89-89 Union Turnpike is offering a new pickup service (Google)

Nov. 24, 2020 By Christian Murray

Stop & Shop has launched a new pickup service at its Glendale store that offers customers the ability to order online and have their groceries loaded into their car.

Customers are encouraged to go online—or download the Stop & Shop app– select “pickup,” and then drive to the 89-89 Union Turnpike store to pick up their order. A store representative will be on hand to load their groceries into their car.

Shoppers are able to select a pickup time and will then be directed to park in a designated pickup spot. Upon arrival, they are required to call the store to let the representatives know they have arrived.

The Glendale store is the second in the Stop & Shop chain to offer the service in Queens. The other store is at its Maspeth location at 74-17 Grand Ave.

“We’re excited to offer our customers the convenience of shopping online for all their favorite items, and then picking up that order from the comfort of their vehicle,” said Tom Valerakis, store manager of Stop & Shop Glendale. “We hope this service helps make things easier for them.”

The company said it is offering the service with customer safety in mind.

Customers are asked to have their trunk or door open so workers can place groceries directly into their vehicle.

Customers are also asked to wear masks and limit the number of people in their vehicle, when possible. In addition, all Stop & Shop Pickup associates will be wearing masks and follow all of the same sanitizing precautions as its in-store associates, including surface sanitization and regular hand washing.

The company said it might place limits on certain items based on demand.

A $30 minimum is required on all pickup orders and a $2.95 service fee will be applied at checkout. For more information on the new service, or to schedule a Pickup, visit www.stopandshop.com or download the Stop & Shop mobile app.

New customers can receive the service free for 90 days by entering SSFREEPICKUP at checkout.

Apr. 17, 2025 By Dr. Ifeanyi Oguagha

As physicians of color at Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center (JPAFHC), we regularly witness how representation in healthcare can save lives. Our patients – who, like us, are predominantly people of color – walk through our doors not only with medical concerns but also often carrying the weight of generations of inequities that have shaped their health outcomes.
