Ridgewood Man Fatally Struck by Car Near His Home: NYPD

A 66-year-old pedestrian is dead just days after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Ridgewood street.

Bohdan Spiegowski was struck while attempting to cross Stanhope Street at Fairview Avenue around 5 p.m. on Dec. 9. He was hit by a white 2019 Ram 3500 Promaster Van going eastbound on Stanhope Street.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, hit Spiegowski just a block away from the victim’s home.

Police said Spiegowski was hit on the passenger side of the car before being knocked down onto the pavement. 

Spiegowski suffered head trauma and was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst where he later died on Dec. 12.

The driver remained on the scene. No arrests have been made and police said the investigation is still ongoing.

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills are looking for three suspects who beat and robbed a 28-year-old man during a home invasion on the afternoon of Saturday, June 21. The three intruders slipped into an apartment building at 102-40 62nd Ave. at around 4 p.m.

The perpetrators allegedly forced their way into the victim’s apartment, punched him repeatedly in his body with closed fists, and forcibly removed $60 in cash and medication before fleeing the building in an unknown direction, police said Monday. EMS responded to the crime scene and transported the victim to Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, where he was listed in stable condition.
