A 41-year-old man who was high on crystal meth is in critical condition after being shot by police in a Maspeth home Friday, according to the NYPD.

Police received a call at about 6:20 p.m. from a family member of the victim who said that the 41-year-old was hallucinating inside the Maspeth house and was destroying the basement.

Officers arrived at the 54-55 64th St. home and found the man in the basement with a family member. Cops tried to tell him that he needed to go to hospital before the 41-year-old pulled out a knife and lunged at one of the officers.

One of the officers deployed a taser while another fired two rounds at the victim striking him twice, according to NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan. The man was taken to Elmhurst hospital in critical condition.

Police said that officers were called to the same address at 10:50 a.m. earlier in the day and the 41-year-old was also hallucinating. He was taken to hospital but was released a few hours later.

Cops said that they were also deployed to the Maspeth house on Jan. 6 when the 41-year-old was also hallucinating.
