Man Arrested For Attempting To Rape Woman in Woodhaven Earlier This Year

Marlon Serrano captured on CCTV footage outside the 85th Street-Forest Parkway Station in January (NYPD)

March 17, 2021 By Michael Dorgan

Police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Woodhaven earlier this year.

Marlon Serrano, 47, was arrested and charged Friday for attempting to rape a 58-year-old woman who had been walking along 92nd Street — on a residential block near 89th Avenue — at around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 22.

Serrano, from Tennessee, allegedly pushed the woman to the ground, climbed on top of her and displayed a knife. He then covered the woman’s mouth and told her not to scream before pulling down her pants, police said.

The woman was saved by a passer-by who intervened and scared Serrano off.

Serrano has also been charged with sexual abuse, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

During the incident, Serrano allegedly bit the woman on the left hip and stole $5 cash, according to police.

The victim was taken in stable condition to Jamaica Hospital, where her bite wound was treated.
