22-Year-Old Dead After Crashing Motorcycle on Van Wyck Expressway: NYPD

A 22-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on the Van Wyck Expressway early Tuesday.

The man was riding a 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on the expressway near Exit 1- Belt Parkway, when he failed to properly navigate the roadway at 2:45 a.m., police said.

He struck a guard rail and was ejected from the bike onto the grassy shoulder of the expressway. Responding officers found him lying unconscious on the grass with severe body trauma.

He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, but couldn’t be saved.

Police have not released his identity, pending proper family notification.
