City Council Member Robert Holden will address a variety of neighborhood issues at a town hall event next week that’s been dubbed “Conversation With Your Councilman.”

The meeting will take place on March 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Holden’s district office, located at 64-69 Dry Harbor Road. Residents will be free to raise any concerns they have with Holden.

While the meeting will largely be an open discussion, Holden will provide several updates about previously-discussed issues in the district. Topics will include issues surrounding illegal conversions, traffic concerns, and the value–or lack there of– of Thrive NYC, New York City’s multi-million dollar mental health initiative run by First Lady Chirlane McCray .

Holden will also discuss the first bill that he passed in the City Council this week, which will require city agencies to report hazardous lead contamination found in the soil to local council members and community boards within five business days.

The contentious 78-16 Cooper Ave. property, currently a defunct four-story factory, is also slated to be a topic of discussion. The property, rumored at one point to be a homeless shelter, is likely to become office space, according to permits filed with the Department of Buildings. Holden, however, has said he is in talks with city agencies to turn the site into a school.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the town hall. RSVPs can be sent to avaichunas@council.nyc.gov.

The town hall discussion will take place on March 21.
