Hundreds of marijuana plants have been seized from a Ridgewood home following a police raid last night.
Around 8:35 p.m., Queens North Narcotics detectives raided the house and attached garage, located at 1820 Gates Avenue, and removed nearly 500 marijuana plants and several grow lamps. Police were seen carrying heavy garbage bags out from the garage following the bust.
A search warrant for the home was obtained as part of an ongoing investigation, police said.
Douglas Wait, the 47-year-old resident of the house, was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny, two counts of criminal possession of marijuana, unlawfully growing cannabis, and criminal used of drug paraphernalia.

Poor guy. Its gonna be legal soon. Shame. Lets do a go fund me for his legal fees
Imagine all the people with PTSD and painful mental and physical disorders that could have been alleviated by all that Cannabis. But, because of the continuation of 90 years of Reefer Madness propaganda, there’s going to be a police bonfire, and the growers thrown in jail.
Well, his life is ruined. At least some people didn’t get high though.
I wonder if they’ll reverse the charges when it’s legalized in a few months?
> At least some people didn’t get high though.
What would have been wrong with that?
The Journal of the AMA-Psychiatry published a study that found no correlation between Cannabis usage and the development of “negative personality disorders.” A year or two later, another study found that kids suffer no long term effects from using Cannabis, which was the last big concern.
And there have been at least a few studies, including by the NHTSA that found no correlation between Cannabis usage and crashes.
Meanwhile, every couple of months, another malady is found that is either controlled or cured by Cannabis usage.
You, Amigo, are a victim of 90 years of Reefer Madness propaganda. Instead, assorted Cannabis preparations should be available on retail shelves between the Pepto Bismal and the vitamins.
And, someone should hold you down while we blow smoke into your face until you start to laugh and join the human race.
right, that was my point with the overt sarcasm
Local entrepreneur, just getting a head start for when it’s legal.
