Police released video Sunday of a group of eight armed suspects on motorcycles wanted for robbing three people – including an 86-year-old man – in central and northern Queens on Wednesday.
The alleged suspects mugged the victims in broad daylight during separate incidents that all took place within the space of an hour on July 6.
In each incident, the motorbike rider would pull up in front of the victim before the passenger would get off and rob the victim. In one incident an assailant displayed a gun while in another, a perpetrator wielded a knife.
The first incident took place in Forest Hills at around 10:55 a.m. when two people on a motorcycle pulled up in front of a 21-year-old woman who was walking northbound on Kessel Street.
Video shows the passenger on the back of the bike jumping off before approaching the victim in front of 67-02 Kessel St.
Police say the passenger, a man, then pulled out a knife and stole the woman’s cell phone, debit card and ID. He can then be seen getting back on the bike, with the pair fleeing the scene westbound on Yellowstone Boulevard, police said. The woman refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
Around 20 minutes later, at 11:15 a.m., two individuals on a moped approached an 86-year-old man at the intersection of Cooper Avenue and 80th Street in Middle Village, before one of them got off the bike and forcibly removed the victim’s gold chain, police said.
One of the suspects then shoved the victim to the ground before they fled eastbound on Cooper Avenue. The senior declined medical attention at the scene.
Soon after, at 11:40 a.m., six suspects on mopeds mugged a 48-year-old man at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and 126th Street in Corona, according to police. One of the suspects displayed a gun before a member of the group swiped his gold chain and they then fled westbound on Roosevelt Avenue, police said. The victim was not injured.
A video clip released by the NYPD shows the eight suspects riding together in a group in Forest Hills. The video shows two motorcycles and two mopeds with one driver and one passenger on each vehicle.
