Man Crushed to Death by Pickup Truck in Maspeth Tuesday: NYPD

A man is dead after being crushed by a pickup truck in Maspeth Tuesday night.

The victim, who police say was lying on the ground beneath a parked Ford-350 pickup truck, was killed when the driver got into the vehicle at around 6:55 p.m. and put the truck into reverse.

The rear wheels of the truck, which was parked on Maurice Avenue near 54th Drive, rolled over the victim, believed to be a man in his 30s. It is unclear what the victim was doing there, although sources speculate that he was sleeping.

Police responded to a 911 call shortly after the grisly incident, and upon arrival, found the victim lying on the roadway with body trauma.

He was transported by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old man, remained at the scene and no arrests have been made. The driver was not injured, cops said.

Police say they victim was lying underneath the vehicle “for unknown reasons” and did not provide any further information.

The victim’s name has yet to be released and the investigation is ongoing.
