76-Year-Old Middle Village Woman Dies One Month After Being Struck by SUV on Woodhaven Boulevard: NYPD

A Middle Village woman died on Sunday after succumbing to her injuries from being struck by an SUV last month, police said in a release this morning.

Eashwari Reddy, 76, was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 62nd Road on Jan. 10 when she was hit by a 2011 Toyota SUV headed southbound on the boulevard at around 6:20 p.m., police said.

The 44-year-old driver remained on the scene.

When officers from the 104th Precinct arrived, Reddy was found in critical condition with trauma to her head and torso. She was transported by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital Center.

The investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been filed against the driver.

The FDNY had a massive response to a three-alarm house fire in Richmond Hill on Wednesday morning.

After receiving a call at 10:22 a.m. reporting a fire on the second floor of a two-story private home at 87-35 126th St., firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from the wood-frame building. The FDNY transmitted a second alarm at 10:33 a.m. after the fire extended to a brick two-story home next door.
