Glendale Resident Held at Gunpoint, Tied up in Home Invasion Robbery: NYPD

Police are searching for three men suspected of tying up an 18-year-old Glendale resident and stealing more than $9,000 in cash and goods in a violent home invasion last week.

The break-in and robbery happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, when two men wearing ski masks entered the victim’s home near 84th Street and Myrtle Avenue and began to attack him, police say.

The two men both pulled out handguns, with one of them striking the 18-year-old across the face with the weapon. They then tied the victim up before rummaging through his property.

The burglars eventually made off with $9,000 in cash, a wallet, a PlayStation 4 and a safe.

Images released by the 104th Precinct show that three men, all dressed in dark clothing, are being sought in connection to the incident. Photos of a gray SUV and a maroon minivan, which police say are connected to the home invasion, were also released.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The stolen vehicles were often sold through advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.
