VIDEO: Man Steals Cash from Ridgewood AT&T Store, Tries to Yank Phones From Wall

A man stole approximately $300 in cash from an AT&T store in Ridgewood earlier this week.

The suspect entered the store, located at 56-43 Myrtle Ave., around 11:15 a.m. on Monday and swiped the cash out of the register. He also tried to rip two display phones off the wall but was unsuccessful, according to police.

The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. One employee was in the store at the time and was not injured, according to police.

Police have released video footage of the suspect.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.

Some of the vehicles were stolen from owners’ driveways, some with the keys or key fobs inside. The stolen vehicles were often sold through advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The defendants are charged in nine separate indictments for a total of 373 counts, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced on Thursday.
