Police are searching for a suspect who claimed to be a police officer before robbing a 65-year-old man in Ridgewood last month.
The suspect approached the senior around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 while the victim was standing outside an apartment building at 1044 Wycoff Ave.
Police said the suspect displayed a shield and told the victim he was a police officer before demanding his money and identification card.
The victim complied and handed over his ID card and $410 in cash. As the suspect fled to a green van, he threw the victim’s ID card to the ground, according to police.
The suspect is described as being approximately 35-years-old and about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a dark colored sweater, dark colored pants and white sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
