New 4-Story Warehouse Planned for Maspeth

via RXR/LBA Logistics

Nov. 28, 2018  By Laura Hanrahan

Maspeth will soon see a new development come to the fore, with plans announced for a four-story warehouse within the neighborhood’s industrial area.

RXR Realty, a Manhattan-based developer, plans to build an up-to 770,000 square foot facility spanning three properties from 54-15 to 56-19 Grand Ave., at the intersection of 57th Street and Grand Avenue.

The development is dubbed the “Grand Logistics Center,” and will be a “modern state-of-the art” warehouse space with hundreds of docks to support a robust logistics facility, as the name suggests.

“Queens is an ideal location for users to be able to quickly deliver goods to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.” said JLL Managing Director Leslie Lanne, who is part of the development’s leasing team.

Lanne said the team expects to have interest from “last mile distributors, e commerce, fleet storage, food and beverage users, as well and traditional warehousing and distribution users.”

RXR bought the property in January of this year for $72 million with partner LBA Logistics, but has not yet filed construction plans with the Department of Buildings for the new development.

A phased demolition of the existing storage building and parking space at 55-15 and 54-14 Grand Ave. is expected to begin in early 2019. The existing one-story warehouse building at 56-19 Grand Ave. will remain standing and be incorporated into the new development.
