A woman is dead after her husband backed into her with his SUV in an apparent accident at a gas station in Maspeth on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Isabel Ramirez-Cohetero, 51, was struck fatally by her husband’s Jeep SUV at a BP Gas Station at 60-90 Eliot Ave. just after noon on Aug. 17.

According to the police, Ramirez-Cohetero and her husband, 50, were both outside the vehicle when he realized that he had accidentally left it in reverse. When he jumped back in to press the brakes, he inadvertently hit the gas pedal, causing the SUV to accelerate backwards and hit his unsuspecting wife, who was standing behind the car at the time.

The blow left Ramirez-Cohetero unconscious and unresponsive and she was quickly transported by emergency medical services to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The NYPD is conducting an ongoing investigation into Saturday’s collision, but they do not suspect foul play or any criminality. No charges have been filed.
