Police have arrested two men who were attempting to steal cases of beer from a Glendale freight yard over the weekend and then tried to escape through nearby treetops.
Around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, an employee of the rail yard, located at 68-01 Otto Rd., spotted the two men removing cases of beer from the yard. The employee then called 911 and reported the ongoing theft, police said.
When officers of the 104 Precinct arrived on the scene, they were informed that the two thieves had attempted to flee the location into nearby treetops. The men, who were still up in the trees, were talked down by the responding officers and taken into custody.
Derrick Nunez, 23, and Julio David, 31, were arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespassing, according to the NYPD.
