Ridgewood Robber Chokes Salon Employees, Steals Cash and Cell Phones: NYPD

The unidentified suspect allegedly robbed two salons on Saturday. (NYPD)

July 15, 2019 By Laura Hanrahan

Police are searching for a man wanted for the violent robbery of two Ridgewood salons over the weekend.

On Saturday, just after 10 a.m., the unidentified suspect entered Beauty and Nail Salon at 810 Fairview Ave. and attempted to pay for a massage with a counterfeit $100 bill. A female 52-year-old employee of the salon refused to accept the bill, enraging the suspect, who then choked and punched the woman as well as another employee at the salon.

The man then stole three cellphones, a camera receiver and $200 in cash before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Less than three hours later, the same man entered Sunshine Foot Spa, located at 558 Grandview Ave., and again attempted to pay with the $100 bill, causing the 39-year-old female employee to confront him. The man then grabbed the employee around the neck before stealing two cellphones and fleeing the scene.

Neither employee was seriously injured as a result of the incidents, police said.

The man is seen in security camera footage from Sunshine Foot Spa wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and sandals.

Anyone with information in regards to the identity of the suspect is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
