Ridgewood Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Trafficking Teenage Girl: DA

A Ridgewood man has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and other charges for forcing a 13-year-old girl to have sex with strangers for money in 2017, the Queens District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

Eddy Florence, 34, of 70th Avenue, is expected to be sentenced to between seven and 14 years in prison. He also pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a 15-year-old runaway in addition to trafficking the 13-year old.

According to the charges, Florence placed prostitution advertisements on multiple escort websites over the course of 2017 pitching both girls’ services.

Florence forced the 13-year old to have sex with multiple strangers and demanded all the proceeds of the prostitution be given to him. The teen was also subjected to verbal abuse and threats by Florence when she did not make enough money.

“Sex trafficking is an incessant act of brutality and degradation that scars its victims for life. The defendant now faces a lengthy term of incarceration for his actions,” said Queens District Attorney John M. Ryan in a statement.

The defendant pleaded guilty before acting Queens Supreme Court judge Peter Vallone Jnr. and is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 1.

Twenty individuals were indicted and variously charged in a wide-ranging scheme to steal cars in Queens, throughout New York City and its suburbs, following a three-year investigation by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD, and the New York State Police dubbed “Operation Hellcat,” into the criminal enterprise based in Queens.
